Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In the following two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1981 she started covering the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. She was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on a variety of notable stories, including the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell traveled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate issues such as the Iran Contra controversy.
